How to Remove Creases, Ripples, and Curls from Your Rug
When your rug arrives folded or rolled, it's normal for creases, ripples, bumps, or curls to appear. With a little patience, they will flatten out on their own — or you can speed up the process using the steps below.
Steps to flatten your rug
- Unroll or unfold the rug and lay it flat on the floor with the pile side facing up.
- Reverse roll the rug in the opposite direction of the crease and leave it for 24–48 hours.
- Place heavy furniture or weights on the corners, edges, and any ripples to help weigh them down.
- Gently stretch the rug or use double-sided tape to secure curling edges.
- Use a warm (not hot) iron on the back of the rug with a damp cloth between the iron and the rug to gently press out stubborn creases.
- Always use a rug pad for best results — it helps keep the rug flat and in place.
- Allow time — most creases and ripples will naturally relax within 1–2 weeks of normal use.
